Kelly, I do believe you should look into the bugavan thread that I started. I'm from MD, so it'll be awesome to drive down with someone else from these neck of the woods.

Yup, if something happens, there are plenty of people with the know how and the tools to get it done!

Though one thing to invest in...walkie talkies! Can't stress that enough. With the large group we had last year...it was important to have those to keep contact, because Cell Phones just weren't cutting the cake!

I'm amazed at how....excited we all still are about the ToD. A lot of people have asked me why I'm still so excited because I've already been there twice. I said, it's not so much about the drive, although that is still awesome each and every year I go, but I look forward to the people. All the new folks I get to meet! Man I hope a lot of people from ToD last year come back this year because I KNOW I didn't meet everyone! There were SOO many!! That's why...next week, I'm calling the Ridge Top to extend my stay til Monday.

Still hopeful for Roswell, but we'll see. Gotta be making some $$ for that trip. Thankfully ToD Is Budget Friendly!

Thank you guys so much! I'll be looking into your bugavan thread later tonight.

I talked with my father. You can all COUNT ME IN!

I appreciate the information. I'm gonna need it! I do have a pair of walkie talkies, and quite a bit of tools I will bring

Off to work now, I'll post more later! Dad is gonna see if we have any timeshares in that area. If not, I'll be lodging up with the lot of you!

I AM SO EXCITED.

for kicks, I like to call it a carabugavan. Since it's a merger of all of the terms and well "mergers" are in right now Maybe one day it'll "take-over", which is also popular right now haha or a "buy out" HAHA sorry...

I remember when we made it to the Cherohala overlook (i made it there) some of us were wondering where KC, Michelle/Matt and others were. We got the news that they were assisting Chris with his 2 flat tires. We waited at the overlook, while some of us were on the side of the road to flag them down, so they wouldn't miss us.... good times.

Yep, we do look for one another.

And yes Gary is the Mang

I love that term too

Hey Kelly, I'd also book a room at the Ridge Top just to be on the safe side; just in case the timeshare is too far away. The "Top" will NOT debit/charge your card- the give you up to 24 hours out to cancel, after that they will bill you. So it's a win win for us advance ToD people.

I'm suggesting lodging at the Top so strongly, because it is ToD central. Also a major element of ToD is the orgers themselves- it's an experience like none other. I've heard several attendees this year say "I shoulda booked at the Ridge Top". I remember Dennis (DM Blue Beetle) and I hanging out Friday night along with some other orgers, looking over our beetles, like they were a stable of horses tucked away for the night. There's just something you'll take away with you after ToD from lodging with your fellow beetle peeps; something you'll miss lodging somewhere else.

There might be a fellow lady orger who might not mind sharing a room- something to consider. If you lodge at the timeshare, that's cool. I'm sure the other ToD veterans can agree that you'll be spending a lot of time at the Top

Glad to hear that you're in

I think carabugavan covers it. But no matter what you called them, they are what makes the trip special for me. If I ever forget what to call them, I usually just call it the "pod".

Is it May yet?

We didn't really "lose" Al, he was just scouting ahead for a "break in the clouds".

If you would, click back to the first page- you'll find all pertinent info there.

As I've mentioned earlier, I'd go ahead and book with The Ridge Top, even though they're booked. Chances are that you'd be one of the first ones on the waiting list. If someone cancels, you'll take their room. Getting a room there is easy cake- no charges are levied on your debit/charge card, unless you miss the 24hr. cancellation window.

As memory serves me, the Microtel was hotel choice #2 for the overflow- hope that helps

And with that in mind- sir Gary would it be asking too much to hook a brother up with bring pg 1 forward? Thx.

Okay, so my dad and I sat down at dinner and had a conversation about where I'm staying. There are no timeshares around that area.

Top had a room for me, so they aren't booked, vwgary

I did not book yet, probably will within the next week or two. I'm spoiled so I'm not used to the whole 'motel' deal. I'd love a four star hotel, but I can compromise for this. :P

The major concern right now is GETTING there. I'm completely paranoid about not getting there in one piece, let alone getting there at all.

What essential things should I bring? Obviously besides my own clothes and whatnot. :P
