2k11 ToD hotel question

RidgeTop hotel is booked. Does anybody know how much Microtel's group rates were last year? They will honor last year's group rate price, but the GM said as of this year, no group rates have been given.

I don't know the answer to your question as I would be a first timer myself. Haven't 100% decided if I'm going but have begun looking at different places to stay. Here is what I have found thus far:

This little place looks intriguing and may very well be my first choice as it looks really neat: Scenic View Motel - Bryson City NC There are a few reviews on tripadvisor that sound promising as well: Scenic View Motel (Bryson City, NC) - Motel Reviews - TripAdvisor

Here is a listing of all Bryson City places in Bryson City: Bryson City Hotels and B&Bs: Read Bryson City Hotel Reviews and Compare Prices - TripAdvisor

Lastly, there is a property listed with Hotwire (search under Bryson City NC) that provides Complimentary Breakfast and In-Room Internet for $73 over ToD weekend. Although Hotwire won't tell you where you're staying until you commit to purchase, this service description does match the Microtel website and is cheaper than the $89.99 rate shown on Microtel.com for the same dates.

Looking at google maps, there are several other places that are really close to the Ridge Top. Not sure about pricing or customer ratings but there doesn't appear to be a shortage of options...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about proximity. Looking at google maps, all the hotel/motel links that I posted are within 2 miles (or closer) of the Ridge Top.

I'm still debating about the trip as I would be trying to fit it in with others already planned. Too bad I don't have at least a month of vacation time...hahaha

I would call the Ridge Top and see if they have a waiting list. I think they save a few rooms just in case, and then at the last minute if they don't get booked, they'll open them up to us. Just a thought. I know most (if not all) of the Maiden Voyagers will be staying at the Ridge Top, it's tradition now lol

Thanks for the idea. I'd hate to loose a deposit once an alternate hotel opens up though. ToD seems to be gaining momemtum each year, so there probably won't be a shortage of tailgaters no matter where we would stay. Gosh! I hope wifey can get that weekend off. Like Gig said, Need a months worth of vaca Our's was all planned out before we found out about ToD. I can probably manage a strange illness the day before the journey, but its a little more tricky for Amanda. Thanks for the help so far org!!

We booked our stay at the Sleep Inn listed above. Figure we'll just drive over to Ridge Top for 'parking lot' GTG, meet new friends and take lots of pictures. This will be our 1st time with NB Owners. We've driven The Dragon several times with our other car club (Crossfires).
