Default Two-way radio's and Cell Phones???

Hey, just throwing this out there gang. Wanted to put a word out for some of the folks that haven't been part of a large mobile group event before.

Two-way radio's are great for traveling as a group within a close area. So, when we are rolling from breakfast to our first stopping point, or getting ready to leave Deals' Gap for the next run, the two-way's are good for quick communication out to the entire group.

Gary can just hit one button and everyone should know what the dealio is. Savvy?

Now, with everyone having cells and unlimited plans and all, those will work too, but just differently. Not as safe to write a quick text or dial up someone while we are winding through the hills of Tennessee. Also, can't ping the whole group without creating a huge text distro list.

So, if you have a two-way, please remember to bring it with you (plus some fresh batteries). And if you have an extra one, throw it in your ToD goodies bag please to share with a new friend on Saturday.

And, for people that do not have one, you can grab one or a set really cheap from a Wal-mart or your local Radio Shack. Or maybe enough folks have extra's that can lend you one for the day.

If you need one, or have an extra to lend, please post-up and let's start getting this one done.

Ok, that was it, just wanted to put this reminder out as people start their packing lists for ToD 2k11.

Peace...TechnoTrix'd...

Great thread Rob. You must have been reading our vibes.

Also keep in mind that your radios should be FRS radios.

Another important tidbit. As memory serves me, and a few other folk, the official ToD bugavan frequency will be channel 6. This will be cool, especially for those who are already at "the Top" and can hear each bugavan driving in.

FRS Radios- get some... they're a necessity.

And men, remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy....

I'll take an extra one from someone. Don't think I'll be able to borrow a Motorola from work.

i'll for sure have an extra. maybe two if i remember to buy a new set at Ya'll Mart....

and just as a reminder, if we happen to have a lost Jedi (or two ) along the way, they'll quickly run out of FRS range...and the verizon cell signal was mostly non-existent on the Cherohala Skyway, if memory serves.
