"How To" fix (lube) that sticky door lock.
This may seem like a silly "How To" to some of you but after 6 years of dealing with a sticky tumbler in my door and trying every type of lock lube on the planet I finally threw in the towel and decided to just do it the right way.
The tools to do this simple maintenance should be found in all of your garages.
1) #20 Torx bit
2) Dry lube.
First open the drivers door and you will see a lil rubber button. Pop that out and undernieth you will find a #20 Torx screw. Loosen it about 4 turns but DO NOT remove the screw. It can fall into the door or worse yet the back side of it will fall into the door.
Next Push the screw in ... you will here a lil click. This releases the lock mechanism from the door frame.
Now reach around to the otherside and simply slide out the lock mechanism as shown in the pics.
Now insert that Dry lube straw into the lock and drown it in lube. Shaking out the excess and turning the tumblers a few times with your key.
It should now be turning like new.
Pop it back in the door, tighten the screw, pop the cover back in and wonder why on earth you had not thought of this.
