Default Turbo Spoiler hatch on a regular Beetle?

Has anyone heard seen or done a retrofit of a Turbo spoiler hatch to a regular Beetle? My TDI just got rear-ended with some damage to the rear hatch. I thought it would be neat to find a mount a Turbo Beetle hatch.

I really doubt that the extra wiring needed to integrate it with the ECU is in there, but maybe you could rig a toggle switch up to it and run power to it... . no guarantees though, just wishful thinking

It was going to be strictly manual.

I'm pretty sure you'd need to get an entire hatch from a beetle with an integreated spoiler, and have a wiring diagram, and skills to fab a switch and wiring. Should work though, and be pretty cheap to do, if you can find a hatch of the right color.

My Beetle got rear-ended and I'll be replacing the entire hatch anyway. So, I might as well upgrade. Yes, I can do the installation and wire the spoiler myself to operate in a manual mode.

Ought to work fine, then.

If needed I have a full turbo hatch in silver arrow with interior panels and spoiler motor. just for kicks it already has the rear euro badge installed.

My 2001 is bright silver. I'm guessing silver arrow matches?

If you could, PM me and tell me how much you're asking.

Your '01's Reflex Silver will be a little bluer than Silver Arrow, so you would need to get it repainted to match just right, but at least with a silver it should be a bit easier to change.

I know that a couple of years ago there were at least 2 different people talking about doing this, but I never did hear how it ended up. I've always been interested to see if it would work. I'd think the speed-driven auto-popup would be more trouble that it's worth, but a manual activation should be no problem at all. Just get power to the switch, then back to the wing, and up it should go!

Best of luck! Please keep us updated!

They didn't start with Reflex on the Beetle till 02 .... my 01.5 Sport is Silver Arrow ... at least that is what the tags say it should be ... it was in an accident prior to my buying and I have no clue what color it is, the jams don't seem to match perfect, but you've seen my car BM.

Well alright then, it may already match better than I thought. Thanks, S.S. NOLA!
