I realized today that my TIP has a crack/slit in it, so now it needs replaced. Is going samco/forge going to give much difference over stock? Any good links to getting a samco/forge in blue for a good price? Thanks!

Don't have any links to prices ... got mine directly from Forge in Florida.

It's a very good thing to get. Here are two links to my experience ... the How To was posted here on the old site ... but none of my how to's were brought to the new site ... so here are the offsite links. Your mileage may vary for the howto since you have a different engine than I do.

Also ... don't order the hose without getting the clamps also, If you use the typical hardware store clamps you will be reinstalling since the openings on those cheap clamps eat silicone as you tighten them up!

The Forge TIP is great. Picked up mine from Forge @ Waterfest12 for a major discount

I noticed an increase in throttle response, more linear power delivery, more power in the mid and upper RPMs. In addition, the sound is nice

I own the the Samco unit, got mine from Forge when they were the US distributor for Samco, I was one of the first people in this country to get one and yes, this is the way to go (no more cracks and splits) for improved overall performance.

A new TIP would be great to have. What was the install like? How long, including beers? Need more than 2 hands?

Thanks, Rich

From jacking the car up and placing it on jack stands to lowering it back to the ground, maybe an hour or two but I'm never in a hurry with these things.

It's not a difficult installation for one person, it just takes a little time and care, no beer or while under the car...

I just got my Forget TIP installed last week and it has made such a difference, not only in the sound, but the peppiness of the car. Go through forge, talk to Mike Lombardi. Let me know if you need his direct contact info!

I've heard the undercarriage is fragile and you need to be careful jacking up, etc. Where did you place the jack and jack stands and anything else?

My hot rod is running as good as ever at 131,000 but, well, more efficient is better!

Later, Rich

The lower chasis area is really no more fragile than any other car, just view your service manual for the jack points and/or consult a dealer technician for this information.

You do not want to place the jack and stands in the wrong location on any car because this can result in vehicle/property damage as well as personal injury.

I think the answer is yes.

The reason I say this is becuz I got a gorgeous black EuroJet hose kit from John (bigblockbug) http://www.eurojetracing.com , but only the TIP fit, the rest I sold to a MarkIV Jetta owner. I think it's just a re-labelled Samco hose, yes, no, maybe? John? Too Cold? Bueller, Bueller?

BTW, I heard there's a 12hp gain if u have the right mods already in place, I felt the difference right away.

Yes .... the Golf, Jetta and NB use the same one, there are two models though, one for the K03 and one for the K03 Sport turbo, which has a 1mm larger intake on the compressor. If you have a APH engine, get the one that fit the AWD GTI/Jetta one, if you have a AWV or AWP get the AWW/AWP GTI/Jetta one.

I had my exhuast in place as well as the 007 when I installed mine .... made a huge difference, at least 12HP and no more sucking noise.
