Default How to Remove rear panel 98 Beetle

I want to change the speakers in the rear panels of my 98 Beetle and want to know how to get that panel off.Is it all one peice from beside the seat to the window.I can't tell if it lifts up or if you pull it out.I just don't want to bust any thing. The speaker doesn't work that's why I need to get it off so I thought while it's off I might as well update the speakers.Any insight would be great.

Thanks

Did this some months ago..
I would start by prying the black part out of the door gasket. there are some pops on the B-pillar below the driver seat belt.
There are also two pops at the other end of the rear panel, behind the back-part of the rear seat. Do the B-pillar pops, then the two in the back. Now all you have to do is to lift the panel upwards. Be careful, it is kinda easy to break the top part(painted) of the back panel. It sits on a metal frame with approx 4-5 metal clips.

Remember to remove the seat part of the back seat and lay the back forward.

Found the how-to I used..

Thanks Rawr! PDF is now saved, the rear panels are one of the few things that I've never removed from my car.
