Unhappy HELP with the Old Style Horn

I installed an old style (Beep-Beep) horn on my 2006 NB. It works off and on. After a few days it starts working again then stops. Can anybody help?

I'd say it has to either be a problem with the wire or the switch. Let's hope it's the wire!

Have you checked all the connections again on the new horn?

I just received mine from TVA and I'm taking it to the dealer to install.....(40 degrees outside no thanks!). I don't think they've installed an old beetle horn yet. Is there any rewiring required?

I just spliced into the factory wiring. The old Bug horn uses different connectors.

Cool Number of Horn's

I replaced the two original horns with only one old style (Beep-Beep) horn. Did you replace the two original horns with one or two old style horns?

There are 2 horns in front of the left front wheel well. I spliced into the wiring of the lower horn, unplugging the original and plugging in the Old Beetle horn. I left the upper horn plugged in. So mine has an old/new sound.

Horn that the alarm uses is the same pitch as the original meep meep horns of the older bugs. I thought the true original horns were 6volt? They would require a bit more than simply splicing on new connectors.

The replacement Hella (old style) Beetle horn is 12V.

I took my horn from TVA to the dealer so they could look at it and they said the connectors are different but the install should take 30 minutes at most. So Daisy will have a new voice this Friday!! YAY!

Daisy has her new(old) horn in now!! The dealer gave me the 2 horns they took out - they are connected together. So does this mean the old style horn is the only one in there? I guess I could press the panic button and listen! The 'beep' when I lock it sounds like before but it's such a short beep it's hard to tell. The old style horn sounds a lot louder! I drove over to my dealer's house so he and his kids could hear it - he likes the idea so much he might install old style horns in the loaners.

It was around $45. My dealer did order and install some old style horns for his loaners, but I don't know which beetles.
