Default P0118 code question

I was driving today and the temp light started to blink red. I got home and hooked up my scan tool to the car and got P0118 code and all my coolant was drained. I had just put coolant in the car this morning. I read the code def. "Engine Coolant Temp Circuit High Input". Does anyone know what this means and how to fix the problem.

When i had p0118code i replaced coolant temperature sensor to the 'green top'. I did not have a coolant leakage though.

Hi there,
I've done the same thing as you did, I replaced the temperature sensor to a green one, but the check engine light was still there. Did you do something else apart from just changing it?

Thanks so much,
Vincent

You'll have to clear the codes. The CEL won't go out on its own right away.
