I replaced the ignition switch in my 98 beetle it's a auto and a gaser, I didn't replace the cylinder just the electrical part of the switch, anyone know if you have to reprogram anything when you do this? It does nothing now when I turn the key on no lights on the cluster nothing, when I put the old one back in I have lights and it starts up(when it works), I am thinking I just have a bad new switch?
Thanks for your help |

Ive run into this before. I have done my ignition switch twice now, the 2nd time needing the pigtail as well!
The 2nd time around though, I ended up getting 2 bad switches out of the box. One would work the ignition, but no start. Other way around on the other switch. Does the vehicle do anything with the new switch?? |
