Question Trailer hitch advice?

Hello,

I just got an '07 Beetle and bike a lot. Would rather not use a carrier that goes on the roof or rear hatch.

The trailer hitch / with a bike carrier is the best option to keep the bike and carrier off of the car.

Are there any recommendations on which trailer hitch is the best to go with? I've been searching the archives and found several brands as listed below but hhaven't found a clear opinion.

Thanks

I had U-Haul install a hitch (1 1/4") for around $200. I've towed my Porsche 914's long distance w/no problems. I just recently bought a Thule rack:

I chose this rack b/c it is useable on a 1 1'4" and 2" hitch which makes it nice & easy to use on friends cars & future cars I may have.

Here's a "return" pic after 2,500 successful miles w/said hitch (and my roof mounted ski/"everything else" rack - this time it was surfboards but has been used for bedroom dresser's & lumber).
The bike is tilted b/c I bungee'd it to the base so it wouldn't swing.

Thumbs up

We have the Draw-Tite Sportframe. I chose it because it has two extra support braces that the other hitches didn't have.

I think it is the same one that U-Haul sells.
