I've heard good things about a place... 1 sec I'll contact 'my source' in seattle, she moved up there about a year ago.

She's been REALLY pleased w/them doing work on her passat.

Futrell Autowerks has a shop in Bellevue. I have always been treated very well at their Beaverton shop and would highly recommend them.

I'm sure it depends on the service. I dunno, that was just copy/pasted from a friend that moved to Seattle a year ago

She's been very happy, and very well served by the dealership, even though she bought her car out of their state.

ok, here's all of your options in the Seattle area excluding dealerships. If you go to a dealership you're just stupid, unless you need a loaner car, in which that's pretty much the only time I go there:

Personally, I've been to both Fine Tuning and Futrell (which I told you to go over three months ago, apparently you're having a tough time deciding). I done interior/convertible top work for Group 2 as well. All three are great. But I go to Futrell.

hohoho...

I had decided it already..

I'll go to futrell in bellevue..

Now all i have to do is waiting until my car's mileage is 102,200 =)

Btw i have this kind of problem, it is typical for VW.it is:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2269482

You think how much futrell will charge to fix this problem?
what do they call the problem? I'm not too familiar with beetle engine slang.

I've never heard of this problem, but obviously it exists. Just call them and find out.

It sounds like you need a new ring gear; or a new starter. Probably not both.

If you're in there to do a ring gear, and the milage is getting up there; you'll want to do the clutch at the same time; the parts are pracitally connected. (ring gear's connected to the outside edge of the flywheel)

Or register for ETKA

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/BE/...06/56/2507672/

Free to register and makes you feel like the dealer

Not sure if it covers U.S. parts though

That's the right stuff.

You can replace the starter w/o removing much more than the battery & battery tray.
