Default Reversing (Parking) Sensors (NOT factory fit)

Has anyone installed 'in-bumper' rear parking sensors to their Beetle?
I've done this before to other cars so I know what to do - but want to know if it's easy to access the sensor wiring from behind the bumper and tap into the reverse wire OK?
Have posted this on the UK New Beetle Forum - loads of viewings but no one has replied.
My local VW dealer here in UK says it has to be an original factory fit - they won't fit them as aftermarket parts!
Thanks
Mark

You should just be able to cut the holes and pop them in if there is room.

Another option is a microwave system like an Audiovox ROSS, it can install behind the bumper cover without any cutouts. I have one on our Chevy Express below the bumper(it won't go through the steel bumper) and it works great.

Default Wiring

There's space to pop them in but does anyone know how easy (or otherwise) it is to access the reverse light wiring so I can tap into this feed?
Thanks

I just installed my rear fog light and also keep it as a back up light. I used this thread on how to do it. http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=22157

Not sure if this is the area of wiring you are looking for.

I just installed a parking sensor kits,The wiring is simple, finding the access hole took some time -there is one on the driver side and you will need to remove the back panel (in the trunk) to get at it, but it's only held on by two screws and some plastic tags.Once the wires are through you connect to the backup light - easy too - they are up under the trunk hood - red wire positive - white wire negative. The kit includes a small indicator light which also sounds the beeper. I installed it inside one of the air slots (vent for the battery pack) and routed the wire under the rear deck panel and into the trunk. This way, I can see it in my rear view mirror. So far, so good, very sensitive to movement (i.e., a child, or something). The only drawback was the price - 300 bucks. Hopefully it was worth it, will let you know.

Hi Mark, it seems to me that the rear bumper has to be removed to fit the sensors or am I wrong? Can it be done by removing the rear lights? Regards Brian
