has anyone made one out of a piece of steel or aluminum i been thinking bout this just to get a sheet and cut it to size n stuff

They're more complicated than a flat sheet cut to shape, they need to be bent and you need to fabricate posts to mount it up.

But if you find aluminum you can cut and bend yourself it won't make a very good skidplate.

Growler: You're seriously THAT low with that much wheel gap?

I have a bit over 3 fingers of gap but my wheels are tucked in the front and very close to tucking in the rear.

you also have 17" wheels with wider tires on them than the 205s on my Golf with 16s..

heres the front view...




beats me.. but thats my fingers and thats my car so yes, its that low with that much gap.

Ah it looks a bit lower from a normal view.

Looks sharp, my friend had a Golf TDI just like it. It was bored out with a tuning box and bigger injectors, bigger turbo and some other engine mods. It made 300 wheel torque, what a blast to drive it was!

Steel prices in general have gone up drastically in the past 12 months. Partially due to the Military and all the Iraq crap still going on.
