Default Help - Need a new battery for my 1.8T!

So I have never had a problem with my 2003 New Beetle 1.8t battery wise, untill recently I installed some 42 Draft Design White LEDS in my cars interior and my license plate bulbs.

Now whenever I start up my car, there is a hesitation like it is not gonna turn over... then it does, barely.

It gets worse if I leave my car with out driving it for a day.

Anyway, I understand that the 42 Draft Design LEDS draw a little current when the car is off because they do not require that much power to lite. So I think I just need a new battery, cause I love the look of the LEDS!

But instead of just getting a regular battery, I really want to step it up and spend a few extra hundred to get a powerfull reliable performance battery that will last me a while.

Can you guys recommend me a new battery to get for my car please, preferably something I can get at a Schucks or something local just so that I can avoid my battery giving out on me soon. But I also willing to pay extra to have a good battery delivered to me.

Thanks in advance for any information/recommendations you can give me.

Here's what you need

Optima batteries are the best you can get. I've got them in all of my VW's and they perform flawlessly. They well worth the investment and will last almost forever. Mine have been in for six years now and have never lost a charge or failed in any way.

Haven't had to put a battery in my bug yet, but I'm on my second Optima in my Dodge pickup. The first one lasted roughly
eight or nine years. Certainly worth the extra money!

The LEDs are not enough to cause the issue described. Also they will not draw power when the car is off and everything else is off and closed. They don't require are much power because that is the nature of a LED, not because the have constant power before they are turned on.

What you are describing sounds more like your battery is at the end of its lifespan and/or is not getting charged correctly.

With they said, I am on my 2nd Optima yellow top and love it. I am running my stereo system on it with a 250A fused with 2ga power cables.
