I need help!

I removed my headliner (everything worked beautifully, just wanted to redo the liner in a different color).

While putting it back together (not all there yet), the sunroof will not open now.

I have triple checked all the connections and they are tight. All the fuses in the side by the drivers door are good.

Do I have to have the whole thing back together before checking to see if it works? I do not want to put it all back in until I know it works. It was a pain getting it all out, and even harder getting it all back in.

Is there a reset?

I feel retarded.

Any ideas?

Thank you
Ryan

wow never heard of this problem. maybe there is something that needs to be there in order for it to work correctly. like no headliner means it wont work. i would take your chances and just install it all back and hope for the best.

Did not work
I got everything back in and still not working. I think I will take the liner back out, and take the motor out. Is there a way to see if the motor works? They are in the 3-400 range to replace, I would rather confirm it is dead before replacing.

Thanks for your ideas

Ryan

I'm working on a sunroof problem right now - I can manually crank the roof up and close it with the door key, but that's all. No movement using the switch. I'll be doing some VCDS testing on my Jetta this weekend to use as a comparison on the Beetle.

The motor will work while not even hooked to the roof. You do have to make sure it's in the closed position when it's reinstalled. I was able to hook only the wiring to my Jetta to confirm that the Beetle motor switch are OK.

There are 2 fuses related to the sunroof - one for the roof itself and the other for the CCM module. I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head though.

If I come across any other test methods, I'll pass them along.

One more quick thing... it isn't the problem on the car I'm working on, but I did read of someone with sunroof problems who had a blown fuse to the interior light (tied into the CCM). I would guess that you removed the rearview mirror / lights to pull the headliner so that might be worth checking.

Thank you for your ideas

I did remove the mirror to take out the headliner. I have put the mirror and all interior lights back in and they all work.

Do you know which fuse goes to the CCM? I checked the fuse for the roof itself, and it was good. Also, I do not see the ccm listed on the fuse card.

Find Tesla in the members list and search his posts. I think he had a CCM problem and identified the fuse that was causing problems.
