Default Suspension rebuild

Well I have 192,000 miles on the NB now and need to rebuild the Complete suspension. The rides pretty rough!

I would like to also add a lift. After searching I read on the Spacers and really just want springs right now. Will the Jetta Wagon springs work and give enough lift. 2''+. And will they be to rough (stiff) of a ride. I do tow with my NB so stiffer rear springs will help.

I will be replacing everything on the front and rear suspensions. And will run Bilstiens TC.

Also whats the best place (cheapest) for suspension parts. I am leaning toward IDparts (TDIparts).

Looking for a better ride. As I feel every bump now!

Thanks!

Default Lift

I am also interested in lifting my NB, it was dragging the snow this morning. Any ideas on what is the best method?

NB Convertible springs - direct replacement, no modifications needed. I installed a set on the rear for towing and they are perfect. I installed the fronts as well but they were a bit to high for my liking. So...I have a pair of fronts for sale that will give you about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of lift.

Really that much over a regular NB springs. Are the spring rates any better?

Jetta wagon front springs(with 2.8 engine)and 2006-2008 New Beetle springs(with 2.5)are the same.O.E. part# 1J0411105CD,paint code 2 blue,2white.They should give some lift. You can add 10mm front strut spacers(O.E. part #1J0412311A)for more lift.On the rear Jetta wagon springs, same as 2006-2008 New Beetle O.E. part# 1J0511115CP,paint code 1 white,4 brown should give lift. They are stiffer springs. The best price I found on these was from "VW Parts" - "Volkswagen Parts" - Parts and Accessories Catalog. ,they are around $90 each.

How much do you want for the front springs? I work in Hanover Park so shipping would not be an issue.

jetta wagon rear springs will def give you a lift.

we istalled a set on a bio diesel mk4 golf that had alot of extra weight in the rear, worked great, way better then "heavy duty" springs.

After more research and reading. Looks like I will do some 2" spacers.

The Metalnerd ones are over priced IMO. $300 bucks with a $100 refund is retarded. All they are is milled AL spacers. I can Mill some out of AL myself for cheaper than that, and make the shock brackets as well.

Now with that out of the way I guess I'll do the O.E. part# 1J0411105CD,paint code 2 blue,2white for the Fronts. As it will give lift and have little better Spring rate than my OE ones, hopefully not to stiff!

For the rear I tow alot, so would the 2006-2008 New Beetle O.E. part# 1J0511115CP,paint code 1 white,4 brown be to stiff when un-loaded, yet lift as well? I was surprised how well the stock rear springs do loaded they look so small!

I am going to order the suspension rebuild parts here soon and the new Bilstein TC front and rear. Then when they come in I can mill the front spacers. Then order the springs front and rear and mill the back spacers.

Thanks!

Already I put the rear springs int to see what they looked like as I am still waiting on front springs and the rebuild kits.

But man they added about 2" of lift at least!!!! I swapped the stcoks back in till I get the new fronts as well.

I can't wait to get everything installed! I'll post pictures and take measurements of the lift.

alright.
this is good stuff.

so does anyone know of what springs i can get to replace my stock springs on my 99 nb 2.0?

im shopping the junkyards....and a list of different vehicles that i could pull these from would be fantastic.

im looking to get as much of a lift as i can with just upgrading shocks/struts and springs....and of course the minor suspension hardware if need be.

this is the first ive heard of anyone using the vert springs....are they really usable on a 99?

thanks for all your help

also, what shocks and strust...mine dont seem very worn, but i cant see taking the suspensin apart and not replacing them while im at it....kyb? bilstein?
