Default Light under Center Dash area

I'm looking for the little light that shines down on the cup holders at night. It's located just above the cup holders under the center dash area. The connection for it is behind the defroster/emergency blinker switches. My light is still there I just lost the pieces to put it into the hole. There is a white cover that goes over the light and a black holder and some other pieces.
I attached a picture of the area where it goes.
Anyone has this they want to sell me let me know.

i know what piece you are talking about but i have not seen it for sales anywhere. best bet is to check a local junkyard and pull it out of a different beetle. don't really see them for sale too much either online at least...hope this helps

Sometimes there are people that are not too into their beetles and could care less about that light so I thought I'd ask. I had a friend that if he didn't have that light there he wouldn't care so he would give it to someone.

That's it. How did you find that? I've been looking everywhere online and can't find it.
Thank you. Does anyone have that? Should I ask VW Parts?

I found my from a donor car at the local salvage yard. It's called the Ashtray light. Be sure to get the connector too.

I modified mine by removing the one LED and adding three high bright 3mm red LED's for much better lighting.

Oh cool. I actually changed mine to a super bright Blue LED to match the radio/speedo/clock/temp. It's just to bright in one spot without the diffuser.

Hopefully I'll find one soon.

Thanks
Brad

I think I would need to know Japanese in order to buy it from there. I can find it on their site but can't read the How to Order page. I tried using Google's translator but it was way to hard to read.

Any tips?

if you email him he speaks english, ive ordered stuff from there before. The stuff on there however is quite expensive, so id check your dealer first, its probably much cheaper from them.

Anyway the light doesn't do anything. it is not bright at-all and doesnt shine on anything so if i were you i wouldn't bother spending the money on it.

That's why I modified the light for more brightness. An easy project.

A picture of how mine looks after modification.

Does this light exist in the 2009 NBC - either mine is missing or no longer standard equipment.

No. You will have to add it with parts from a donor car. You will need the ashtray light with a pigtail as long as possible. Tie into the dimmer circuit on one of the switched above the light.

Not only was the ashtray light deleted, I have found these items too - pollen filter, door/puddle lights, fog lights, no leather seats, no blue temp light, no auto dim mirror, flashing security light on the drivers door only, and no key-lock for trunk. May be more but these are the ones I have found so far.

This post made me laugh. 1998 NBs had exactly ONE interior light (well, excluding the visor mirrors). That was the light on the rearview mirror. I always had mine off. In fact, the first thing I did on my new 2010 was turn the damn rearview mirror and C pillar lights OFF. I'm glad I DON'T have the ashtray light as it would drive me nuts!

I have found on my 2007 NBC a slice of a red light down below the dash that shines on the absent cup holder of yorn; I have leatherette seats and love the heck out of them; the blue temp light went away after the 2006 production year; auto-dim mirror? My interior mirror dims with my right hand...less chance of something going wrong with the electronics; both my doors have the flashing security light on them, in fact while in motion, the lights replace the pull-up and are lit red, so you know that they are locked. Ash tray? We don't need no stinkin' ash tray, in fact the ashtray was NOT an option on my car; Fog lights would have been nice, especially for the snowy winters in North East Wisconsin; puddle lights would have been nice as well...or just the door lights like those on my wife's '05 Passat; I do recall having the pollen filter on the '07. Well we can't have everything, but we can have our New Beetles!
