Default Few quesitons about possible exhaust purchase

So i want to get a magnaflow catback exhaust.

I don't really like the under the bumper look, but i hear drone is awful with turn down tips, if i got them welded in instead. Would it be hard to make a cut out in the stock bumper? i've seen it done (YouTube - beetle turbo)

Also is this an install job I could do on my own? My understanding is that it just requires cutting the stock exhaust pipe which can be a pain, but still doable.

I put a Magnaflow catback on my 2000 about 4 years ago. I used the neighbors's lift, and had it done in under 30 minutes. I did use a sawsall to cut the factory tail pipe where the bend is. Sounds great.

The actual exhaust install is not terribly difficult, the Magnaflow systems fit extremely well and removing the stock exhaust is usually more work than installing the new one.

As far as the bumper goes... It can be very difficult to get a nice looking exhaust cutout, but it is certainly possible. I've found in the past that using some painters tape to mask out the area you want to cut really helps in getting a clean shape, getting the corners smoothed out, etc... is a bit more work.

We do have the Magnaflow systems available for the 2.0L New Beetle here on the website:

Jon at ECS is correct, it takes longer to take the old exhaust off than putting on the new Magnaflow exhaust. It is very easy to do.

Mine has been on for 3 or 4 years and the sound is great. Mine has the original Magnaflow 3" exhaust tips that are welded to the rear muffler and they look great. You can tell they are not those cheapo bolt on's. And they have Magnaflow stamped on both tips. They point straight out.

The stainless still looks great with no discoloration. I go to a lot of car shows and when you look at the driver's side rear wheel opening you can see that the rear muffler is stainless and no discoloration. Looks like new.

There probably is cheaper stuff out there, but they can't have the quality.

Go for it.

Just to throw this in there, i installed a Magnaflow catback on my 2.0 last week.
It was a great purchase, sounds great on the 2.0s, no high notes at all! Sounds very beefy.

I went with the split pipe under the bumper, looks pretty sweet.

Yes, the ANSA system would fit a 1999 2.0 auto:

Hey I was checking out the exhaust on you tube and noticed the tips stick out exceptionally far from the rear is this the case and about how far I have a 99 NB and if so is there a way to mod the length of the tips?
