Default E Brakes light never shuts off

My beetles Ebrake light on the dash will not shut off even if the handbrake itself is already all the way down, tried to check it on the back of the tires if its stuck but it is still moving when i raise up the handbrake...its the light that will not turn off.

That light is not just for the E brake. Top off your brake fluid and it'll go out. As the pads wear, and the fluid level goes down, that'll happen. That's what happens on My Nissan Titan pickup.

That's usually about the time the pads need to be replaced. If the pads are really low, don't fill the reservoir (bring it up far enough to make the sensor happy). Otherwise, you'll make a mess when the new pads get installed (if you don't remove some fluid).

Agreed. I just didn't want the OP to think there was a real problem.
