A regular (non-canbus) HIS is ok, just make sure it's a H1 replacement kit.

Some ballasts (the high voltage converters) don't work very well with the thin wiring in the NB. This will show in lamps that don't start after cranking and it's due to a voltage drop in the original wires. This should be solved by taking the power supply directly from the battery with a relay. Go to a mechanic if you won't be able to fix this in a decent way yourself. Bad wiring can cause fire.

Due to the older type of projector lenses I think it's good to give the headlights a polish, just to reduce glare a little. You won't really notice the difference yourself, but it's nice to the other drivers.

Any good H1 HID conversion kit will do just fine. I use the DDM Tuning kit and they look excellent and work great. You can go to the DDMtuning site for them and they also sell the $13 HID wiring harness for them.
