Default Getting ready for the auto X

Hey org. I am going to enter the Bug for the 2011 Auto X. Now my bug will not do tight turns, but my friends focus will . I need suspension/tire improvement badly. What suspension would be the best for my demand? Also what tires should i run for the events? I'm starting out small this year so i just need a GREAT street tire, nothing fancy i can't drive around on the daily basis. Thanks

Hey!
I'm into good handling cars and have been scoping out parts from my NB as well. I have experience with installing/using these goodies in my past life as a mechanic, and have some SCCA racing experience.

For suspension, I would do a set of H&R springs or Eibach Pro Kit springs. Also a good set of shocks help a great deal. Bilstein or Koni are the two Im looking hard at. Larger diameter anti-roll bars will also keep things more on the level. If ya want to get crazy with it get ya some lightweight wheels, they'll help make it start, stop, and steer quicker!

I'm currently working on my brakes right now. I have stainless lines that need to go on, and hope to do a set of slotted rotors in the near future. Some people will go as far as to replace their brake pads at events with a track/race compound pad.

As for tires, the best place to learn about them is probably Tire Rack. See what size you need and go for something on the sporty side of the line-up. Kumho makes a good race tire that not too pricey. Don't forget, the stickier the tire the less mileage your going to get out of it. Also check out the SCCA website and see if theres any information on a good multi use tire, and check the rules for what class your going to run in.

I autocrossed mine when I first got it and it did awesome. I had Hankook Ventus tires on but it took the shoulders off of the tires in 6 laps. If you plan on doing alot, your best bet is to have a dedicated set of wheels/tires for race and a seperate set for dailys. Good luck.

Bingo!!!!!! Make sure the class you are gonna run allows the upgrades you buy. If it's your first time out you might want to run the stock class.

I'm going to run with fast and they don't have a specific class for it. I Just want to do it for fun this year. I will Probably stay stock until i decide what group i want to join and truly run with. So tires and brakes will make a huge difference to this cars horrible turning
