Default Brake Pad Reviews

I swapped out my wheel bearings this weekend and in the process I got a good look at my front brake pads. I was very surprised at how much pad I had left. so hear is a mini review.

Mintex Red Box - Good braking power with minimal fade. There is some brake fade after continuous hard breaking, but this is to be expected. Very little brake dust, and nothing damaging to aftermarket wheels. I currently have ~ 45K miles on the pads and have a good 1/2 an inch of pad left. I do a lot of downshifting but I do jump on the breaks. No track use at all on these pads.

Maybe others could give there ideas on the pads they are currently using...

I used Mintex reds on my last car, '97 BMW M3, which saw a 1/2 dozen track days.
Those pads are really good for aggressive street use and pretty good on the track.
They would tend to overheat once they were worn past 1/2 way, but that was on the track with repeated extreme braking.

I have used Mintex Blue box (c-tech racing pads) also on the track, but they destroy rotors. They do work exceptionally well with minimal pad wear though. I do NOT recommend these for street use, as they will squeal like mad.

I actually like the stock brake pads for normal use, or aggressive street use. They seem to dust very low, at least on my car, and they have been wearing very well.
I have ECS stage-1 13" front rotors by the way.

I've heard good things about Axis ultimate pads, as well as EBC green stuff pads for aggressive street use.

I really like my EBC Green Stuff pads. They warm up quick and when they do they bite really well. Very predictable and confident braking. When these go, I will buy another set.

You do get some dust, but nothing like stock.

Thumbs up Brake Pads

Wagner ThermoQuiets. Minimal dust and no noise. Still look like new after 20,000-ish miles.

Are the EBC Greens good for regular driving AND autocrossing about once a week? Do they squeal at all? Do you use them with stock rotors? Or would anyone suggest anything else that is quiet and doesnt wear too much for this situation?
