Default New Griffin Technology CarTrip device on NB?

Just saw this over at TUAW and was wondering if anyone knew about it and whether it would work on a NB:

It will work, but will only read generic OBDII codes. VW uses many proprietary codes that give far more information than the generic codes can. The product you linked is overpriced anyways, you can buy those Bluetooth adapters on ebay for like $35 and then just buy the app for however much it is.

Ross Tech is currently working on a Wifi version of VCDS that will work with any smartphone (Android, i*hone, etc). No word when it will be available. For registered owners of VCDS, they will offer an upgrade program.
