Default 1.8T vs 2.0 Radiators

I've been having issues with my 2.0T getting a little too hot in traffic and I had this nagging suspicion that VW probably installed a more capable radiator in the 1.8T NB's.

I called a friend at the dealer and had him compare the two rads.

2.0 / TDI - 28 Row
1.8T - 37 Row

The 1.8T unit is also a lot more expensive so I'm going to go investigate next week to see what the deal really is. The inlet / outlets and all mounting points are the same, just the 1.8T unit looks denser.

I know this probably doesn't apply to many people but I figured in the future there may be another 2.0T NB, or even a TDI with a FMIC having the same problem this might be helpful.

Anyway I'll update this thread with my findings.

Nothing yet, I'm probably going to end up buying one anyway. I know the in/outs are in the same place and both rads measure the exact same size. It all comes down to build quality / efficiency I think.

Did you check rockauto.com for a radiator replacement for the 1.8t? Worth a shot I bought a great radiator from there for my Maxima when it was still running.
