Default Wider tires on stock rims

Hi guys, need a little input, I am buying new shoes and need to know if any of you guys is running 225/50/16 on stock rims?
I can get that size for the same price of the 205/55/16 but I like the fact that is 3/4 of an inch wider.
The salesperson says it will fit with out a problem but, will it rub?

Thanks in advance.

I'm running 215/60/16s and they look pretty snug, but they don't rub. Its a taller and wider, but not by much. It looks like if they were any bigger, they would rub while turning. I don't know though

They have the 225/50/16 listed on different sites for my car. I am crossing my fingers... I ordered the tires already

Wider tires aren't a big deal until you need an alignment and they can't get the alignment heads to to clamp onto the wheel lips.

Not exactly a problem with 225/50 on a 6.5" wheel. Now if you put some 245/45 16's on there.. ya a problem.

I think I had 235's on a set of 17's I bought and they couldn't align it without deflating the tires.

I ordered the 225/50/16 which are the exact same hight but 3/4" wider, so 3/8" in and 3/8" out wider. I dont think that's enough for the alignment to be a problem.

I do have to learn to be more patient tho, just got this e mail:

"Thank you! We WANT your business and will do whatever is necessary to earn it. Please call us at your earliest convenience so that we can beat Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels price! Thank You. At 39 I still do this every time

Well, I can only guess that you are speaking from experience there, perhaps a finger glove might fit you best.

As far as the tires go, they fit perfectly. Turns out they are with in tolerances for a VW beetle, its what they call plus zero size upgrade according to my installer.

To each their own, your tires are too wide, your pretty much riding on your sidewalls. That's going to decrease the life of your tires for sure. They also look like a bubble.
