Default Window drop disable!

Hello again,

since y'all are so informative... I have tried to do a search and found numerous threads on this. I don;t have any issue with my windows dropping on my NBC but I can foresee a very expensive future with this. Can anyone tell me the reasoning why the "verts" do this and if it is of any importance? If it is not needed and dosen't pinch the top when open and closing the doors then I have to wonder if there is a fuse that can control this and can it be disabled? any thoughts? I just feel that the poor little windows are really getting a workout!! Thanks so much!

Not sure I understand what you mean by window dropping. Do you mean when you put the top down they drop a couple of inches?

The window drops so when opening a door the window will clear the upper top gasket seal. The drop prevents damage to the seal (tops are expensive to replace) and perhaps the window too. When opening either convertible door, always pause a second or two after pulling either the inside or outside handles before opening the door. I know of no way of defeating this nor would it be advised to do so. If the window doesn't dorp have it serviced to find cause.

I'm assuming you are referring to the window drop of about 1/4". That is so the window doesn't catch on, or drag the top. It is necessary. Also, haven't read here where anyone has had a problem with this particular function. Lots of other door and window issues, but this doesn't seem to be one of them.

gotcha, thanks everyone. I just thought it was somethin' fancy that didn't need to be done all the time when I open either of the doors. I wasn't sure if the constant up/down adds to the regulator problem. Thanks again for all your quick responses!!

NP, it is not the window drop that damages the window regulators and motors, its the poor quality plastic cr@p they are made of.
Enjoy your rag top with no guilt or worries about the windows

Our '05 DOES have a problem with the window drop. They drop for just a second, then run right back up & you can't close the doors. If you use the key to lock the doors, they will drop & remain down as you close the door. They used to do it occasionally, now they do it almost every time. Stealership wants hundreds to "diagnose".

Any suggestions?...
