Question Racing Seat Install - AirBag Sensors...

Hi All -

Sorry I have to log off during the school year or else I spend all my time surfing the .org instead of doing my actual homework!

Summer is upon us again, and I was able to pick up some racing seats for Lady at HAVOC's Volksfest. I was planning on this mod. anyway, and now can do it on the cheap! YAY!

However, my dad and I are concerned about the airbag sensors (I have a 2002 Turbo S) since the stock seats had airbags, and the racers do not.

Is there anything we need to have reprogrammed?
Will the other airbags in the car still work properly?
And will the car pass inspection (PA) with the air bag idiot light on as a result of removing the stock seats?

Thanks y'all! Be seeing you soon!

Some say you can wire in resistors to "mimic" that the airbags are there. Ive never done this....or seen it done.

The bulb for the AB light may be able to be removed from the cluster. Something to consider instead of trying to wire in resistors....

Nothing to be programmed....if theres a fault, thats it, AB light on until the computer sees what its wants and is happy.

I dont know about PA, here in NC it is NOT part of the safety/emissions state inspection.

Sorry to be so vague....tryin to help

When i had my Orange interior done in my Bug. The seats weren't done in the lighter thinner thread. So if i plugged them in, and hit something, they would inflate like a pool recliner not expelling from the seat.

I unlugged them and the air bag light came on.

So then i cut the connectors off the seats and plugged them into the Bug connectors. Air bag light went out Still had my dash and drivers air bag in case i needed saving
