Default Haynes manual VS Bentley

I know hands down the Bentley wins, but will the Haynes suffice until I can the other?

actually since you have the internet i would not even get the haynes until you can get the bentley. You can find anything that will be in a haynes either here, on vwvortex or a few other sites. also remember that the nb is very similar to the mk4 vehicles so almost anything mechanical will have a descent writeup on it over at vwvortex. if it goes beyond that haynes probably would not have it in it anyway.

I've used both.

Haynes:- This is an engine, who knows what engine and from what car we plucked it out of. This is a bolt, unscrew this bolt after first finding it's location on your engine. Then see page 47 to find out if this bolt is the right bolt to unscrew Totally pointless book that just ends up getting launched into oblivion

Don't waste your hard earned. Save it for when you can get the Holy Grail that is the Bentley.

As previous poster said, use the forums until you can

I find this link comes in handy too

I agree with h_2_o. Use the internet and save the money you would spend on a Haynes and put it towards a Bentley. Its worth every penny.

best 85 bucks I've spent on my bug was the Bentley manual, i got the Haynes from a auto-parts store that was closing down for 5 buck's , the two don't compare at all by far hands down the Bentley win's using that book makes you the most official Shade Tree Mechanic that book's a life saver!!

I agree the Hayes Manual is totally useless. You can get more information of the internet. I spend 19.95 for that stupid Hayes book and the information is so vague and incomplete it isn't even funny. For now I have to use the forums since I have no available funds to purchase a Bentley manual at the moment. Time for brakes and struts. I am sure I will manage with common sense and a bit of frustration.
