Default hatch replacement question

Hi guys. My rear hatch was kicked in a while ago by my nasty neighbor. I went to the junkyard today and there were two beetles there that still had their hatches. Both of them had the hatch entry where you rotate the VW symbol and put the key in to open them. On my car I have automatic locks and the hatch pops open when I hit the button. Is there any way to replace my hatch with one of the ones from the junkyard while keeping my automatic locks or do I need to get another hatch with the same locking mechanism as the one I have? Thanks

The rotate and open still has automatic opening from the driver door and from the key fob. It just has a mechanical lock in case you need to get in and the electronics fail.

What I don't know is if that door is going to be compatible, it's from an older year and while many things don't change, some do.
