Default disconnect security system 98 NB

Is there a way to disconnect or bypass. I locked the doors once and had problems with it. I don't need it and just want to use my key to lock it.

You can use the key to lock and unlock.

What happened with the alarm?

I can't remember if I used the key to lock or if I pushed the lock buttons. I did It only once and that was over a year ago. When I went to unlock the doors with the key I couldn't start it! The horn would beep and the car wouldn't start. I can't remember how I finaly got it started but I do remember It was a pain in the ass. So I haven't locked it since which is also a pain in the ass!!

Might have an issue with the door control module or the door switches. Having the car armed shouldn't prevent you from starting the car with a turn of the key. Do you have an oem key or aftermarket, damaged at all?

I had that problem in my NB. Alarm went off when I tried to start the car and I don't think it would let me start it. But I don't remember. I took the key out and was trying to get the alarm disarmed...

You can't base this off of something that happened once a year ago. If you unlocked the car and then took longer than 30 seconds to get in the car and start it, that's why the alarm went off (it re-arms in 30 seconds if it doesn't detect a door opening [which is a common problem]). I bet your alarm system is fine and its the microswitch in the door that's the problem.

Okay I just tried it and had no problems! I used the key to lock and unlock it. I tried to lock it by using the lock buttons but the drivers side pushed hard so I didn't force it. I also noticed that the arming light wasn't blinking like it did when I was having the problems.
