Default Porsche Brakes

I want to do a cheap brake upgrade on my 2000 GLX. I was curious as to what brakes are commonly used from Porsche on our cars. I figured it was probably from the Boxster. Would I need to get the calipers and carriers? Thanks for your help.

www.ecstuning.com has lots of brake options for you, many of them with Porsche calipers.

ECS is good people. They'll treat you right

I concur, I've ordered 95% of my parts from them, can't go wrong!

To be honest, the best thing you can do at a cheap price, is just buy aggressive pads and cheap rotors. You'll eat through the rotors, but you'll notice a HUGE difference in braking performance.

The other mild upgrade is to use Audi TT rotors, and Audi TT caliper carriers on the front. That adds another 1" to the outside diameter of the brakes.

Those are the 2 that I suggest to people. Porsche brakes might stop well, but if you can engage your your ABS now, you don't really need the extra braking force of those Prosche setups. You can't out-brake your tires, they'll just slide and make things worse.

Just saw this thread been really busy with work. A Cheap brake upgrade is new more aggressive pads and new stock rotors or Zimmermans. ECS tuning is a really good place to look. That is where I wound-up buying my new brakes. Two pounds lighter than stock and better heat disapation. But if you are really wanting to stop faster put on stickier tires.

Porsche brake kits are NOT going to be cheap. ECS Tuning has Boxster brakes, 993 Turbo Big Reds, and even 6-piston Cayenne brake kits. I have the good ol' Big Reds. You can get any of the Porsche brake calipers in several non-OEM colors...

I haven't done anything with the brakes yet, however I am running on BFG KDW II's. I like the performance I am getting out of them.
