Default How to prevent auto door locks from locking?

I figured out why daughter bug was going dead?
Problem is the remote door lock. For some reason it will drain the battery when doors locked with the remote. Daughter went to spring break for a week. The doors were unlocked when she left. Came back bug started..

After starting bug went in dorm and came back
doors were locked for 3 hrs and Bug was dead.
She did not lock them.

How do you prevent the doors from automatic locking even if you don't lock with remote. What is the scoop on that?
Is there a fuse to pull or what.
Thanking you in advance.

There are two instances in which the doors will lock themselves automatically:

1) when you unlock them but don't open any of the doors or trunk for 30 seconds--the car relocks itself.

2) after starting and going over 10mph (if enabled by the dealer or by someone with a VAG-COM.

Maybe she left the lights on? And what is she doing leaving her doors unlocked for a week while she goes to spring break?!?

I wanted to verfiy that this is was the problem.
I was hoping that some one would steal it.
Was not that lucky. She got home after a week and it stated. I know now for SURE what the problem was

There should be a way using the VAG-COM to turn off the auto locking. I say this because I know you can stop the horn chirp when you lock them and you can make both doors unlock at the same time by changing the values with the VAG-COM.

Well, I don't think the doors being locked or unlocked would actually drain the battery. It would actually be the alarm system being set that is draining it.

I have heard of the alarm being able to drain the battery if the car sits for an extended period of time. However, three hours, or even a week, shouldn't be long enough to drain the battery.

Any other info? What year is the car? Is this the original battery? Anything added?

I do believe there were issues with the early satellite radio equipped Beetles where the radio would drain the battery as well.
