Heated seats installed in car that does not have the option?
I'm planning to buy a pair of front Turbo S seats to replace the old, cracking leatherette seats in my 2001 TDI NB. The TDI does not have heated seats, but the Turbo S seats are set up with the heating coils.
I was told that the connectors are different -- on my car, they are only for the airbags, but on cars with heated seats, the connectors also include support for the heating coils.
1. Are the connectors compatible? Are they actually separated, so I can just ignore the heated seat portion and just connect the airbags?
2. If the connectors are not compatible, can an adaptor be easily created (or does one exist?) Can I just cut off the connectors and wire the appropriate cables together for the airbags?
3. If neither of those can happen, is it possible to buy and install the heated seat kit? How much would that run and what would be involved, in terms of fuses and routing of wires?
Thanks for the help!
