Question Clear side LED marker light removal???? Need Help!

Does anyone know how to remove the clear marker light that is on the fender under the mirror? I can't figure it out and broke one already. I am assuming there is something holding it in from the rear but can't find access to it. I tried a search but no luck and the search on the old forums isnt working.

Never mind. I figured it out. That thing is a pain in the a$$. You have to pull the top of the dash off and then the cover for the ECM. Then under that is an access panel you remove to get to it. That is actually the turn signal I guess that I was talking about. The part number for it is 1c0949101b

Glad you figured it out. It is quite a pita to get to. And getting it out without dropping a screw into the sandwhich plate that is the side there; that's even harder.

I thought maybe it was similar to changing the cabin filter for the one on the passenger side. Guess it's a place to start.

Just finished swapping out my passenger side LED turn signal under the mirror. Intended on taking more photos as I put it back together, but ran out of sunlight due to a bit of a snag.

Here's a tip: Before you go to the effort of removing the LED, place a voltmeter in the connector of the turn signal and check for voltage. That way, you don't unnecessarily remove a good LED!!!!

Turns out the wire harness behind the cabin filter was severed. I can only think it was some type of rodent that got in there and chewed. ...or maybe some copper thieves!

If yours is bad, the process is just like replacing your cabin filter with these additional steps:

1. Remove cabin filter housing by removing the 2 plastic 10mm nuts on either side AFTER placing a large rag in the hole of the housing. Don't want any of your tools or nuts falling down there.

2. Pry the gray plug (comes out just like a weather grommet)

3. Depress locking tab on the right side of the connector outward and gently wiggle and pull the connector out (I kept trying to pinch the tab until I looked at it closely)

My replacement LED had phillips screws, but my original had torx. Getting the thing out is a trail of patience in that you can't just slide it out.

Recent improvements in diode based lighting are producing a warmer light color as opposed to the blue white associated with early LED lamps. This now makes it possible for strip lighting users to slash the cost of linear strip retrofitting with LED replacement bulbs.
