Ah, I am glad someone knew. I had googled it and found a site that said under passenger side headlight. Drivers side fender should be a piece of cake. Especially since my airbox is already out, should make the mounting easier being able to see from the top and bottom.

what type of horn are you installing? I'm on the search for a very obnoxious used airhorn from a semi, myself.

Hella

Not air horns b/c then you have to mount a compressor somewhere. These sound like a Ferrari horn but uber loud.

See them up there in the left hand corner above the oil cooler - this is the driver's side.
...and no, that air filter isn't there on your car

I don't think there's much to it, I believe all you do is just hook up your existing horn wires to it and it should work. You could email the company and ask.

That was one of the very first mods I ever did, as like you it sounded wrong being a former 1969 Beetle owner.

Bughaus sells the OEM Beetle horn for $12.95 (cheaper than Aiwana) or you can find it yourself (VW part # 111951113A).

Remove the stock horn and splice into one of the connectors to attach the old horn. The other connector is unused, so just wrap it up for protection and shove it out of the way.
