As I recall, the stock 16" wheel/tire combo weighed in at 46Lbs. but this could change depending on which brand tires the car came with.

The tire alone could weigh in the area of 22Lbs. to about 26Lbs., subtract this amount from the 46Lb. combo weight and you'll find that the stock 16" alloy wheel is a reasonable weight and not very heavy, especially for an OEM part.

I alway try to consider peripheral effects prior to performing modifications/upgrades on a car, unfortunately too many people only look at part of the picture and end up with less than satisfactory results.

In many cases a tire will weigh as much or more than the wheel it will be mounted on, it's very important to get in the habbit of looking at the entire picture in these matters

For instance, when I went from a Bridgestone SO3 Pole position 225/40ZR 18's (28Lbs.) to a Goodyear F1 225/40YR 18's (24Lbs.) on the same wheels, I dropped 4Lbs. of tire weight per corner totaling 16Lbs. of unsprung weight removed just in tire weight....
