how necessary are the plastic wheel well guards under the fenders? you could run a little bit bigger tire with 'em out i think... i mean, are we talkin dirt and grime build up or engine endangerment here?

More dirt contamination than anything I think, but the fronts also protect your headlight assemblies from getting wet...

Well, for me they are important since I have xenon ballasts inside Why would you run a taller tire anyway?

well i'm kind of in on the lifting scene for these new beetles, and a problem most people run into is in the rear where there's that big bulge near the tail light...
