Default Help My Fellow V Dubbers

I HAVE A 99 GLS 2.0. I have installed a pioneer avic-n2 in my beetle. And i need smog to get my new tags, but my car wont read in the smog shops computer. I tried to unplug the indash dvd system but still no communication to my cars computer i also have air bags is there a reason mwhy my car wont read????

Well that's not too good. If you still have the stock radio you may want to temporarily re-install it. If you post for somebody who has a vag-com here who lives close to you, you might be able to diagnose it too. Good luck.

so the only way to read my nb's computer is to install the stock radio?? ive been to the dealership they told me just disconnect the aftermarket in dah dvd and it should read

This problem is easily fixable. Same thing happened to me few months ago and all I had to do is cut one wire from radio harness on aftermarket side. Follow instructions in this link: http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/aftermarket-radio.html

Just cut wire that's in slot 3 and you are done

ok i checked my harness and i only have the 2 8 pin plugs like in pic above i only have 2 and 3

i cant see the 20 pin plug Will this mess any thing up by cutting this wire?

What purpose does the 20 pin harness serve for an aftermarket radio installation?
Most kits you buy online to install an aftermarket radio only include the two 8 pin harnesses.
