Default Sat Nav Pulse query

Hi all, Newbie here from the UK

Any tech heads that could advise, just fitted a 2nd hand Alpine head unit & satnav to the wifes 2001 beetle (auto), All cabling went well except Iam stuck on where to connect the pulse signal wire ? (speedo or tacho) & which color wire on the clocks loom etc ?

Any ideas or suggestion will be of great help.

Steve
