Unhappy Issues in my '99..

Hi there, everyone.

Basically, I'm the 2nd owner of a '99 2.0 liter. I bought her last December and things were fine until about January when I started noticing that she would do the "idle and then slam into gear" thing when I first started her up. I had the oil changed and had new filters put in in February, which seemed to solve the problem at the time. The slamming stopped for a little bit. It returned and in early June, I had the transmission fluid changed. Sparkle has over 90k miles on her, so I knew it was probably time anyway. The slamming stopped again, only to recur again in late September.

Since I'm used to it, I can kind of anticipate it and I ease into it so that it doesn't slam nearly as hard.. but it's still a pain in the youknowwhat. (Plus, it can only get worse. Heh.)

Also, there is a check light on in my car currently. It's not the check engine light, but the one for electronical stuff - I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but when I searched the forum for info on it it came back that people usually run the codes on their car when this light comes on to diagnose a problem. The light stayed for a day or two, then disappeared for a week or so. It came back on the other day and has stayed solid (which is good 'cause I read that blinking means it's possibly something with the catalytic converters).

The car also idles a little when I'm at a light or waiting. It's like it jolts itself a little bit, not enough to be noticable to other drivers, but just enough that I can feel it.

I'm assuming I need a new transmission, huh?
