Manual Tranny - Clunk From 1st To 2nd & Won't Go Into Reverse

Hi everyone,

I have a 2002 Sport with 90,000 miles. For a couple months I've noticed a clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd. It shifts fine, just the clunk. The clunk is only when shifting from 1st to 2nd, and doesn't happen all of the time; usually only when the car's warmed up. Well, this weekend Zippy wouldn't go into reverse. I could push the shifter down and to the left, but I couldn't put it into the reverse position. After 5 minutes or so, I shifted into reverse with no problems. It happened 5 or 6 more times over the weekend. My car's at the shop for a different issue, and the guy checked all of the linkages and whatnot; visually everything is fine. Any ideas where I should start?
