Transmission not engaging
Hello, my girlfriends 1999 new beetle has 150k on it and is a 5-speed and today her transmission decides it doesn't want to go into first or reverse at all. It just pops out of gear and revs she says. Anybody have any clue as to what it can be?

bad shift linkage. Maybe soemthing's wore out like a shift fork. Or maybe the cables just need adjusting.

Check the fluid level. Transmissions dont like to shift if they are low on lube.
If thats good, then look into adjusting the linkage.
