Default 05 6-Speed Transmission

Hello,

I am new to the forums and I was hoping someone could help me out with a couple questions. I have a 2005 New Beetle GLS 2.0L and I dented by transmission oil pan on a high curb. I'm trying to gather the parts etc that I need to swap in a new transmission oil pan and I'm not too sure which parts to get.

I went to the dealer to get an estimate (I know dealers are horrible) but I really wanted the estimate so I could see the OEM part numbers they put on it which are:

Transmission Oil Pan: 09G-321-361
Gasket: 09G-321-370
Fluid: G055-025-A2

I found the pan, but I came across this site that sells the Gasket, Fluid, Filter, and caps as a kit. Vw Beetle Automatic Transmission Fluid - Vw Beetle ATF Filter 09G

Would this kit work for my car?

Yeah that kit will work, get it and then just order the pan from the dealer. And get a skid plate so it doesn't happen again.

Toad & DZLBUG are both correct. I would highly recommend both sites. You REALLY ought to consider a DieselGeek Panzer metal skid plate. It is well worth the money.

I prefer the Evolution Import skidplates. They seem to offer a bit more ground clearance.

Clearance shouldn't be a big issue on a stock height car. Nonetheless, the Evolution skidplates are good units too...they will just cost you a bit more if you are in the states being that they are coming from Canada. I didn't use to like the Evo skidplate as the front mounting points were not nearly as strong as the Dieselgeek plate. I heard recently that they have now revised the front mounting posts to be more like the DG unit.

Hi, i`m new at the forum and also at this of having a beetle. I`m having a hard time getting to know wich transmission my car have because i want to change the ATF and the filter. Until before reading this post i was pretty sure that mi car needs this kit Vw Beetle Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter Kit - 2002-05 w/ 6 Speed Tiptronic Transmission (4 Cylinder Engine) but when i read this i realize that my pan number was the same that the one that 05beetle said. Now i don`t know wich of the two kits i have to use. My Beetle is a 2004 1.8 Turbo Cabrio. If any one can help i would be very grateful. Sorry if my english is not very good but i`m writing this from Chile.

Default Transmission Fluid Change

I don't think I ever did my own transmission fluid change on the Newbeetle but it is definitely a good idea.

I have done my own oil change and bought Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Today I'm going to put my Panzer plate on (finally) since I have to get under the car anyways to put on a new fender well.

Default Fender Wheel Wells - Front

I got the wheel well on the best I could. Some of the mounting holes were ripped out when the old one grabbed onto the tire.

I had trouble with the Panzer plate again and didn't finish the job. Tomorrow is another day.
