Default Transmission Issues

I have a 2004 convertible with automatic transmission. Had a front end collission about 2 months ago and when I picked up my car from repair shop noticed that transmission was shifting very hard when shifting down and sometimes shifting slippage when shifting up. Dealer says I need a new transmission and is refusing to say that wreck caused the problem and insurance is refusing to pay unless dealer validates that wreck caused the problem. Has anyone experienced transmission problems related to front end collission and were you successful in having insurance repair the issue?

my vote is that if the transmission worked flawlessly before the accident and isn't now, you need to put your foot down with them and make that very clear.

that being said, these transmissions are known to exhibit the behavior that you are describing as they age. Some can solve it with a fluid and filter change (myself) whereas others have had to replace the valve body or the entire transmission in some cases.

best of luck! sorry about your accident!

Default 00 2.0 betle trans issue

hey,

ok so i ended up having to put a new transmission in my 2000 beetle. pain in the butt to drop in, but got it done and flushed the fluid, now the speedometer bounces while accelerating and the transmission has a hard time upshifting. usually have to tack it out to 4500rpm then let off the gas for it to shift into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. no codes, no nothing, just a bunch of headache. i refilled the trans with royal purple max atf, which i call the manufacture and they guaranteed it would work perfect, but would that have something to do with it not wanting to shift or is there another issue that i am facing?

Default bouncing speedometer

First, I'm no expert at transmission's but, the bouncing speedometer could have a lot to do with the shifts. The computer controls the shifts and if the speed sensor is telling the computer several different speeds I'd think it doesn't know when to shift. Might find someone with Vag-Com and see exactly what the sensors showing.
