I want to see if my trans is throwing any codes and I also want to change the trans fluid. I understand I need Vag-com or something like it to use with my laptop. Whats the best hardware/software to purchase? I dont need anything over the top, if possible i'd love to be able to pull CEL codes off my 99 bmw too, but not a priority. OH my car is a 03 beetle convertible with the 6spd auto trans
thanks! |

The cheaper KII-USB interface will do what you need:
Ross-Tech: Home It wont work on your BMW, I'm not sure if there is anything like VCDS out there for BMW's. An OBDII scanner would work for that, but it won't pull transmission codes from your VW and it will not monitor transmission fluid temp as required to get the level correct.
