Default fluid DIY

hi guys, i m looking at changing the fluid in my nb and i was wondering which oil is the best?

i was reading around and i know the TDI forums suggest using a GM fluid

Swepco tranny oil??? - TDIClub Forums

any suggestions?

also, any pointers aside from the ones in this thread?

umm...

First off post your Car and it's transmission.

Then we'll give suggestions, knowing it's a NB and a manual is kinda vague.


This is a fluid I would suggest for a 5spd, even specced for VW's.

oh, sorry, its a 99 NB, 2.0, 5 speed. AEG motor, EBP trans (O2J).

i've been looking at GM/Penzoil Syncromesh (supposedly pretty good for $$$) or BG Syncroshift (hard to find, relatively $$$) or even royal purple 75w90 (supposedly not very good)

where i live temps go from below 0 to above 100, i need a good year round fluid.

The new G070 spec oil from VW is very good in all climates. Never use any fluid that is GL5 rated. GL4 only. The GL5 (this also applies to fluid that is GL4/GL5) additives cause issues with the brass syncros.
