Default transmission compatbility

Hello:

I have a 1999 2.0 GL and the transmission is done. I pulled the tranny and the part# is DZ027061

I purchased a used tranny that I was told came out of another NB but the part # is DZ012117

Are these two transmissions compatible?

Thanks,

Jeff

thaose are strange part #'s.

Got any other identifying marks or information?

If it's an 02J transmission, it will probably bolt up just fine. If it's automatic you may have problems.

Nor:

Thanks for the quick reply...those #'s i listed might be serial #s?

Anyhow after looking at both transmissions, they look identical 5 speed manual and looking inside the bell housing I did see the
actual parts # of 02J 301 107 C

I think I'm good. My beetle has been out of service for well over a year stuck at 342,000+ miles

In addition to r&r the transmission, I will replace the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk, to bearing, clutch fork and spring.

All coolant hoses, ps hoses, valve cover, and various suspension components will be replaced.

Jeff
