I have a 2007 nbc with an automatic tranny Where is the dip stick for the tranny so I can check the fluid level?

Thanks

I don't believe there is a dipstick for it. That could be what they meant when they said that it is a sealed unit.

The fluid just needs to be completely changed every 40k miles. That's not required, but that's what is recommended if you want your tranny to last a long time

As mentioned above, VW considers most transmissions to be sealed units with a "lifetime" fill. From my experience over the years, I find that "lifetime fill" to mean the lifetime of the warranty period.

To change out the fluid, it does require the car to be completely in the air and level. The temps should also be monitored when filling to ensure things reach the proper level again.

I personally try to change out auto tranmission fluid between 80k to 100k miles if VW considers it a lifetime fill. Some of the newer tranmissions are seeing a 40k service interval now, the 6 speed automatic found in the 2.5L New Beetle is one of them.

We do have service kits available here for those looking to DIY the change:

Volkswagen New Beetle 2.5L > Maintenance > Transmission > Service Kit - ECS Tuning Inc

Note that VW transmissions in general are very quirky about what fluid they use, our kit includes the only current fluid approved for the newer 6 speed autos.

Sorry for the confusion there, it's an spelling error in the applications and the parts guys should have it fixed here shortly.
