Default Whine in M/T

Got a whine in my tranny when accelerating. Goes away when you let off gas. Could this be output bearing or output sleeve. Do you have to pull transmission to replace this? Bryan

Not in a while. But maybe new would be good. Any suggestions on brands??? Have read some pro's and con's. Is the vw factory brand the best? Thanks, Bryan

I would start by checking the fluid level and possibly changing, we do have a selection of different transmission fluids available.

The manual tranmissions are not as picky about fluid as the automatic cars, but we typically suggest using Redline MTL. The MTL is a good all around fluid for most temperatures / climates while the MT90 is a bit heavier and does well in warmer climates.

Redline is good, but many guys are going back to the VW fluid. The old G52 has been superceded by G60 and now G70 which is a very good fluid.

In a pinch, just find any GL4 rated 75w90 gear oil, preferably synthetic.

Stay away from GL5 or GL4/5 oil as the GL5 additives are not good for the brass syncros.
